Customer feedback was gathered immediately after the launch of Folder Lock 6. Folder Lock 7, just like its predecessor Folder Lock 6, retains its award winning and enhanced data encryption features. All encryption in Folder lock 7 is based on the U.S military 256-bit AES algorithm and encrypts and decrypts data on-the-fly, which means further security for your data and information as the whole process is carried out in virtual memory instead of your hard drive. Since no data remnants are left over, hackers and other unauthorized people will not be able to access your data without permission.

 

With the standard features that have made Folder Lock a known name in the data security category, the application retains its standard data security features including Lock Files, Protect USB/CD, Clean History, Shred Files, and introduces a new feature in Make Wallets, which are your very own digital e-Wallets to store your confidential and personal information like bank accounts, credit cards, financial and investment data, social security information, immigration data, as well as your insurance cards, debit cards, contact details, and so much more. Encrypt Files

Encrypt Files enables you to store and protect your data inside encrypted storage files called Lockers. These Lockers can only be accessed with the correct password and are unique in that they are dynamic and can expand in size, allowing you the flexibility to choose a maximum Locker size to protect your data. You can further move your Lockers to a USB drive or CD/DVD for portability. With portable Lockers, the Auto Play feature allows you to run, execute, and decrypt your data even on computers where you don’t have Folder Lock installed.

 

Online Backup

Unlike other backup and encryption programs, Folder Lock has come about a full circle towards integrating its security in the cloud, by keeping your data encrypted for backup, even while you are working on your files or modifying them on your PC. No need to decrypt or manually backup your files.

 

Furthermore, the backup and restore transmissions of these files take place using 128-bit SSL connection, proven to keep the bad guys from intercepting encrypted data. Since data is encrypted at both ends, there is never a risk of data availability without a correct password; securing your confidentiality by protecting you from data-loss. You can later restore files at any time, on any computer, and in any device by providing a correct password. To start backing up your files, you can sign up using the ‘Secure Backup’ option in Folder Lock. However, you need to first encrypt your files before you can start backing them up.

 

Protect USB/CD

Extending this feature into portable devices, Folder Lock lets you convert your Lockers into standalone files that are portable and self-executable (*.exe), and can be copied or burned to external storage devices like USB Drives, CDs, and DVDs so that you do not need to install Folder Lock on computers where you take your portable drive to. You can then simply run the self-executables, enter the correct password, and access your data anywhere. This hybrid nature of Lockers let you keep data protected and synced in multitude of devices at the same time with complete portability.

Lock Files

If, however, you’re someone looking for a quick way to password-protect your files and not much concerned about either encryption, backup, or portability, the program offers the ‘Lock Files’ feature, which is another great feature in Folder Lock that enables you to either lock and/or hide files, folders, and drives without the need to move them to a Locker. Items that you lock, hide, or lock and hide remain that way even in Windows Safe Mode. Later, you can simply go to ‘Lock Files’ and enter a correct locking password to unlock and unhide your files.

Make Wallets

For users who wish to maintain a confidential list of their personal identification details, then Folder Lock offers another great program feature called ‘Make Wallets’ which has been introduced in this version based on strong customer feedback. With ‘Make Wallets’, you can now create secure and encrypted Wallets in your PC to save and store your personal information like your Credit Cards, Bank Accounts, Business Cards, Identity Cards, Social Security Cards, Residency Cards, and many other such information. ‘Make Wallets’ provides you with a feature-rich personal and confidential information protection and gives you the power to choose information from over 25 different categories, set passwords for each individual record, and on-screen snapshots of category and card information. ‘Make Wallets’ stores and saves all your personal and confidential information in an encrypted form.

Shred Files

‘Shred Files’ is another great program feature in Folder Lock. The ‘Shred Files’ feature in Folder Lock enables you to shred and securely delete important or explicit material from your computer to prevent recoverability of your data. Shred Files also permanently empties hard drive space to be sure that your previously deleted files are completely irrecoverable. Information security research has shown the critical vulnerability of empty hard disk spaces.
